Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to kick off another amazing school year at Island Heights Grade School! This year marks my third year as principal of IHGS! I have been a part of Island Heights Grade School since September 2007. Over the years I have had a variety of roles, which include: 1st Grade teacher, 3rd Grade teacher, 6th Grade teacher, Basic Skills teacher, and the Instructional Curriculum Coach. I enjoy working with Mr. Rehm, our board of education, staff, students, families, and community members through this role!
Each day at Island Heights Grade School, our staff works hard to provide our Sea Devils opportunities to grow and succeed at their highest potential. We focus on "Every Sea Devil, Every Day." In 2020 we were named by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon Exemplary High Performing School .
We are thrilled to be opening our second preschool classroom through the NJ DOE Preschool Expansion Aid Grant! We are lucky to have this opportunity to provide a free full-day preschool education to our community's three and four year olds.
This year our students will continue with our character education program, Character Strong ! The focus of this program is for our students to Be Kind , Be Strong , and Be Well ! Students will participate in Character Strong lessons each week during their Wellness periods, and each month we will have a schoolwide Character Strong Assembly. In addition, students will have an opportunity to earn Sammy Slips for displaying kindness and respect !
Your child’s educational experience is a collaboration between parents, staff, and students. We look forward to partnering with you throughout your child’s educational journey. When we all work together and communicate with one another the possibilities are endless!
