5th Grade Summer Review
How Can I Get Ready for 5th Grade?
Simple sentence structure should be mastered because we will further develop our writing using compound and complex sentences.
Multiplication and Division Facts should be mastered becuase we will be calculating with decimals and fractions. We will learn how you can multiply two factors and get a smaller number, and you can divide a smaller number by a larger number.

Try reading a couple non-fiction selections, as well as fiction selections. Compare and contrast the meaning or theme.

Keep a summer journal or respond to the books you read. Develop clear and complete sentences.
Focus on writing with strong vocabluary words that intrigue the reader.

Practice typing skills using Typing.com, Google Docs, or Word .
Can you type a composition or a journal entry?
NUMBERS! NUMBERS! NUMBERS!
Practice multiplication and division facts, calculate cost of items and change to be received, and look for fractions in everyday life.
Can you recognize shapes and describe their attributes?
Explaining HOW you get your math answers is important.
