Welcome to the Island Heights Grade School, home of the “Sea Devils”! Our K-6 school is located in the beautiful Barnegat Bay/Toms River community in Ocean County, NJ. Our students enjoy a wonderful community school located just minutes from the Toms River and Barnegat Bay. We pride ourselves in offering a myriad of programs and opportunities for our students exposing them to a quality 21 st century education. In November 2020 we received the highest distinction in the country being named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education.

Our programs include in addition to our core academic subjects; English Language Arts, Math, Next Generation Science and Social Studies, we offer World Language, Visual Arts, Music, Health and Physical Education and Band . We also offer a STARS program which provides additional instruction in areas of need for our students. Our new SAIL (Students Accelerated Initiative for Learning) program provides whole class enriched programs for grades 3and 4 and a pull out experience for our identified gifted and talented population in grades 5 and 6. Also, our special needs population receives high quality instruction by our certified staff in their identified areas of need. Our Guidance department is implementing an  exciting character education program  called Project TEAM.  Because of all of our high quality programs we have been designated a Choice School by the NJ Department of Education.

We offer a variety of before and after school club activities including Band, Homework Club, Art Club, Lego/Robotics and seasonal clubs in Athletics and Physical Education. We have a quality band program for students in 4th through 6th grades.

We are extremely happy to introduce our new full time principal, Mrs. Lisa A. Royer, who has taught here at IH for the last 15 years. Please go to her web page for more information about our wonderful new principal.

I want to wish everyone a happy, safe and productive 2022-2023 school year!

Respectfully,

Tim Rehm
