Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are thrilled to kick off another amazing school year at Island Heights Grade School! I am very excited to start my second year as the principal of this wonderful school! I have been a part of Island Heights Grade School since September 2007. Over the years I have had a variety of roles, which include: 1st Grade teacher, 3rd Grade teacher, 6th Grade teacher, Basic Skills teacher, and the Instructional Curriculum Coach. I am so happy to work with Mr. Rehm, our board of education, staff, students, and families through this new role!
Each day at Island Heights Grade School, our staff works hard to provide our Sea Devils opportunities to grow and succeed at their highest potential. In 2020 we were named by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon Exemplary High Performing School .
We are very excited to kick off a new character education program by Character Strong called PurposeFull People ! The focus of this program is for our students to Be Kind , Be Strong , and Be Well ! Students will participate in Character Strong lessons each week during their Wellness periods, and each month we will have a schoolwide Character Strong Assembly. In addition, students will have an opportunity to earn Sammy Slips for displaying kindness and respect !
Your child’s educational experience is a collaboration between parents, staff, and students. We look forward to partnering with you throughout your child’s educational journey. When we all work together and communicate with one another the possibilities are endless!
